OK, so I haven't posted in a few days. I found out that most of the shit I say isn't really that interesting but today on the way to work I was "thinking". This may be a long post but I think I figured out a pattern to my musical liking. When I was growing up my dad listened to a lot of the Highway Men, ZZ Top, and other assorted "outlaw" types and I grew to love this type of music. I soon realized later most of these guys are from Texas. Well, along comes 1984 and MTV for me, and I saw a band called Motley Crue. When I saw these guys I was like "What the hell is this? These guys f*ckin' rock!" Thus began my love of what I consider serious rock 'n' roll. This led to my love of Def Leppard, Slaughter, Cinderella, Poison, Ratt, along with other bands of the like. So 1993 rolls around and I graduate high school and I notice these guys are dying out and the new music coming out sucks a lot of balls. I start thinking to myself "Am I already getting old? Am I gonna be the guy thats says 'I don't like any of that new shit on the radio. That ain't music!'", because now I consider myself a rock 'n' roll fan more than any other and now the bands I like are breaking up or not popular anymore. Shit! Bands like Nirvana come around and the "Seattle" movement so its like you get all this depressing full of angst shit or you get one hit wonders that are only cool to listen to in dance clubs. So for a couple of years I'm lost in finding good new music. I move to Stillwater in 1996 and discover a couple of guys that have been playing around acoustic at some local bars. I realize they start playing all this shit my dad raised me on. So seeing Cody and Jason play revived me of my former love of this music but not only that, they sing and tell me about other musicians I haven't really heard before. Stuff like Steve Earle, Todd Snider, Jack Ingram, Guy Clark, and Robert Earl Keen. Well let me tell ya I soaked these guys up like a sonofabitch! Since then, Cody and Jason have their bands and rockin' people out while their on the road. So since I hardly get to see them, I once again felt lost in finding good new music cuz these guys had a pulse on what the hell was going on. Dammit! I felt there wasn't going to be anything else left to discover. Boy was I wrong. I was watching MTV2 (cuz I had a satellite at one time) about two and a half years ago and I saw a band called Nickelback singing a song called Leader of Men. One time was all it took. I went to hastings and bought their cd "The State". I loved every song on it and I was thinking these guys are going to be the next big thing. I thought i had found my new Motley Crue! Party! Since then, I found these new rock bands travel in groups. When I saw Nickelback in concert, I saw Saliva and Default as well. I became fans of theirs as well. All these band revived me in rock 'n' roll. So now it continues as I discoved Theory of a Deadman and Audiovent who toured with Saliva. I now realize this "grouping" has always existed in the Red Dirt Scene. I saw how the Divide helped Ragweed. Then how Ragweed helped the Stragglers all the while when any of these guys played they featured another person or group I came to love. Even Though I'm in my rock stage right now, I love damn near every type of music out there. My latest is a band called Evanescence (kinda like Tori Amos with POD) which is now leading me to a band that they know called 12 Stones. Oh and the strip in Stillwater is beginning to thrive again with new talent. So the cycle continues. I love music!

Well, a pretty uneventful week so far. It looks like we may be going to war sometime tonight or tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that..... shit people! Lets get this thing started and over with! I been watchin' this American Idol show every once in a while. Last seasons was way better. There are only a couple of really good ones this time around. Everyone else seems to be a bunch of ass clowns. The Shield and 24 are the only really good shows on now. New episodes of South Park start tonight so thats cool. Son of a bitch, I need to start drinkin' again soon or all this TV watchin' will melt my brain. Lookin' forward to this weekend. Get out of the house and hang. No plans for Friday as of yet but Saturday there's a band called Bakerville playing at Chubs. I heard they are really good so I know where I'll be. Maybe if Kevin won't be such a pussy this time he can come hang out with us. Peace out.... wait.... I mean War out!

Ok so I survived the weekend. My buddy Dave Palmer called ans said he'd be in town from Miami (thats MiamA for us Okies) and wanted to party. So we went to Chubs to start off with a few then to Chili's to get a little grub on and have some mixers. I tried to get Kevin to come up from the city but he's all bitchin' and moanin' bout savin money so he pussed out. Got back to Chubs to watch Jake open up for Cinematic Blue. Man he's really startin to put on a great show. The crowd started to pour in even before 10. I'd say one of the best crowds since Shawn has takin the bar over. I am sooooooo glad he's runnin' that place now. Live music 6 nights a week. Can't beat it! Well, we commence to get sauced and good ole Brooke shows up drunks as shit wearing these damn glow in the dark glasses. They looked like they were made of the old glow rings I used to get at the Shrine Rodeo. Crazy. Anyways, Cinematic Blue took the stage a rock n rolled. Its good to finally have some sweet rock bands starting to roll through Stillwater. We all ended up hangin out in the beer garden out back to finish the night off. I'd say that was the start to my spring season. Where will I be and what will I do this week? Will there be any exicitement or will there be a new nemesis emerge? Probably not but only the Shadow knows! wooohahaha!

What happened to me last night? Wow. The Fun Bus showed up after I got off work and I hopped aboard and drank the entire night away. No Justice, Bleu Edmondson and Scott Copeland were my entertainment for the evening on the strip (damn early St. Patty's celebrations). Holy schnoikies I wanna go to sleep. Work is really not happening today.
