Yes, Dave does kick ass. All I can write about is how much [insert alcoholic beverage here] I drank at a [insert band name here] show and how [insert positive adjective from the 80's here] it was.
Kinda funny... The STragglers are here in town tonight, yet we still have to ship their shirts.... an ass-load of shirts, just cuz they "don't have enough room in the trailer".... sheesh. I say its time for a bus, boys!

Drinking at work

SO, we watched the finale of Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance last night. Been following it from the beginning. It was funny to see how Randi's family reacted. But last night, we found out they were about the most un-supporting family I've ever seen. Sure they all showed up, but they were all boo-hooin' and cryin' and shit cuz they think that wasn't the right guy and blah blah blah. The sister barely made it to the ceremony. You know what? If I was a chick and my family didn't put on a happy face during MY wedding day no matter who I was marrying? They can all just fuck off. That was complete bullshit on their part. They should be happy she's happy REGARDLESS. Fuckin' holier than thou uppity pricks. It's your daughter's fucking wedding day (even though it was fake)! The only one that was cool was Randi's best friend. She said there wasn't anything wrong with "Steve" and his family. They were real nice. And Randi's dad, completely shot her down when she said she did it for the money for the family. Said, "it's not about the money, Randi." Well, you know what? Yeah, it is. And when you all high and mighty fucksticks got your $500, 000 check, and found out it was a joke, you all changed your tune pretty quick. Just though I'd express my thoughts on families that are a little too proud for there own good.

BTW... got pics posted from this last weekend. check 'em yo. And come party for Kevin's birthday with the horde at the Red Dirt Cafe in Norman tonight. You won't want to miss this show.

OK, I just listen to all the song samples of Van Morrison's latest cd "What's Wrong With This Picture" on iTunes and I still say he's black. I always thought he was and every new song I still say he is. He may be white, red-headed, and born in Ireland, but I still say he's a black man. You can't have that much soul in your music and be white.
Man, I love weekends. Sometimes, they make for interesting adventures. Friday was Texas Jack and No Justice at the Bricktown Dog. The crowd was a little sparse but we all made up for it by drinking heavily and screaming loud. Saturday, Melisa and I went to Beth and Chad's housewarming party in west OKC. Upon arrival to this shindig, we noticed most people there were ones Beth worked with and most were doctors and nurses and a little older than we are. We immediately found the keg outsidewith Chad standing next to it. As the night progressed and we continued to "babysit" the keg, Kevin and Robert eventually showed up so we had a couple more people to talk to. Our little group of five rarely went inside to mingle with the other group of people. There was a little enlightenment that night between our friends...... we haven't grown up yet..... and don't know that we ever will. I know we had nothing in common with these people, yet we had no desire to find out who these people are. I could hold a conversation for about a minute, maybe. Kevin shows up and says he brought a bunch of cd's we could jam out too, only the older crowd was gathered around a kareoke machine sitting on the floor. Now, I'm not one usually to pass up a little sing-a-long but that night just wouldn't have been my crowd. While all this was going on, little did we know Ashly was by herself at the Bricktown Dog getting man-handled by a guy in a yellow "Big Daddy" shirt. She send a couple of text messages saying to hurry up and save her. After about two hours later than I said we'd be there, we evetually show up to catch the last three songs of 12 Pearls. Those guys are good. I haven't seen them in probably over a year or since Jordan Doolan left the band. They got the crowd pumped for the Divide next. Another crowd pleaser. That band has more girls up front than I've seen at a Poison concert. They all have that certain aura I guess... or maybe it was Scotte's zebra striped shirt. Who knows. A great show regardless. Sunday, I got to lay concrete with Melisa's dad for a.... what was it?..... some kind of gate that shoots calfs out for roping in his arena he's building. So I got some new skills yesterday. Tomorrow is Kevin's birthday and I do believe they will be a big, huge, gargantuan, humongous party at the Red Dirt Cafe with The Stragglers and Texas Jack. Man, I love my life and the friends in it!

Got pics of last night posted..... man I really need to organize my desk.

Last night, The Divide was cool as shit and full of guest musicians. Micah's originals are bad ass. Have a hint of classic rock feel to them. I dig it. It was pretty funny... Bob comes walkin' in the door and we all see him start to take money out for the cover. People in the bar started going crazy saying "No! No! No! Bob doesn't pay! He never pays!" You can't make the Godfather of Red Dirt pay to get in a bar. Come to find out, it was the guy's first night workin' the door. So, he didn't know anybody. Well, not five minutes later, all of the Rangers come walkin' in and they start whippin' out the cover charge. So, once again, everyone intervenes. Kind of felt bad for the guy. People were rushing him telling him they don't need to pay. He was all like WTF? We decided there needs to be a book with names and pictures of people who don't ever have to pay to get into bars. Anyways, Gus was out and we drank lots of beer. You'll be able tell from the pics that were taken. Steve was there and sang a couple of tunes. Haven't listened to the recording yet. Not sure how it turned out. Hitting the Bricktown Dog tonight for Texas Jack and No Justice. Should be a helluva show. Come on out and party with/like the rock stars.
Great show last night at the Dog..... but more on that later.... Prince is comin' to OKC April 6th! Par-tay!!

Ladies & Gentlemen..... I now give you the enitre show of Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers from Tuesday night in my hooch section..... 22 tracks, unedited, uncut, complete with guitar tuning and two encores of "one more song chants". It's not a perfect recording cuz his voice was really damn hot. It about blew out my mic. Anyway its a good show. I highly suggest you check it out, take notes, and spread the word. Going to record The Great Divide acoustic show tonight upstairs at the Stillwater Wormy Dog..... rock on.

Oh, and will I have a treat for all you people. I got permission to share the music. So, look for the entire show to be posted soon.... but please buy their cd's and go to the shows. You won't regret it.

Oh, I got the Reckless Kelly pics posted too from Feb 6. Roger Clyne may be up later today. Who knows.

In ten minutes, it's time to party "old school Stillwater style". Happy Hour til close..... wish me luck.
You know, today it's been pretty shitty. But, I know it will be all better come 5PM. Gonna hit "happy hour" before one of my top five live shows takes stage tonight at the Wormy Dog Concert Hall..... yes, yes its Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers.
The Boys are comin' home Monday, March 8th.... well pretty close to "home".
WARNING! THIS IS A RANT LITTERED WITH PROFANITY!

You know what it cost me to make up this morning? A nice crisp hundred dollar bill! As I was walking to my van this morning, I noticed it was "pimping" a little in the back. I just thought it was the street. well, no.... I had a fuckin flat. So, I'm cussing up a storm cuz not three days ago I got my oil changed tires rotated and my brakes checked cuz they were squeaking. I was told I needed new rotors as mine couldn't be turned anymore and they didn't want to go below "manufacturer's specs" which was like a .001 of an inch. How can I need new rotors? It's a fucking 2001 Astro with 63,000 miles and your're telling me they can't be turned? Like the last time they were turned someone took half the fucking metal off??? Cuz I know they couldn't have been done more than once being that new of a model..... so you can take your $400 estimate and shove it up your ass. Anyway, back to my tire. Melisa takes me to Big-O Tires in Guthrie and they greet me all nice and polite and I tell them my situation they said it'll take about 10 minutes to fix... perfect. I'm ready to pay my tren dollars and walk out. Well..... not so fast. A guy comes from the back and tell me to come look at my tire...... This isn't shaping up to be a bright fucking day. Not only did I have a nail in my tire, but as it was going flat the wheel pinched the tire between the concrete and put a sweet little irrepairable gash. They tell me the cheapest tire they have is 60 bucks and it'll be 100 all together for mount and balance. Fuck those fucking fuckers. AND! AND! They tell me I may need new tires altogther since they are worn so much and that Hibdon may not offer road hazard since they are worn so much. I just bought tires in September and haven't put more than 20,000 miles on them! They were even special fucking ordered Dunlops. But you know what? They are pretty worn down so WHAT THE FUCK? Don't ever get special order tires no matter how "cool" you think they are. Shit! Fuck it... I tell them to give me a new tire and I pay $100 and leave. I now offically drive the "Hooptie" Sweetwebsite Van with mis-match tires and squeaky brakes that are apparently going out. So all you people better move your ass on over when you see me coming cuz who knows when I may not be able to stop with my shitty rotors!

HAHAHA.... Just heard the intro to "Wanna Rock n Roll" off Ragweed's new cd on CMT's website. It's fuckin' funny if you get it.... I guess everything's funny if you get it.
Since Kevin said it. I will too. My life pretty much kicks ass too.
Read this little article about what went down for a family who wanted to go skydiving over the weekend in Cushing, Oklahoma. Then look at the picture of the plane they went up in.

1. About 4 p.m., the group posed for a picture before boarding a Cessna 182 Skylane piloted by Stephen A. Hill at Cushing Regional Airport to go skydiving.

2. The plane circled the airport several times before climbing to 3,500 feet. Coble jumped first, and his parachute safely deployed.

3. The plane banked violently to the left side. Witnesses on the ground told the NTSB the plane went slightly "upward then out of control in a counter-clockwise spin." The engine sputtered before cutting out. The pilot yelled for everyone to exit the plane. Jumpmaster Tony Hays was the next out.

4. While the plane was spinning, Jake Stieber was thrown toward the plane door and sucked out. He hit his head on the side of the plane but made it out, and his parachute deployed safely. As the plane continued to descend sharply, one witness told the NTSB the engines revved back up at about 300-400 feet. But the plane continued in what the NTSB called a flat spin before crashing in some trees.

5. The crash killed pilot Stephen A. Hill and seriously injured would-be skydivers Glenn Miller and Shelly York.

DO NOT GET INTO THIS PLANE. Why? Look at it...... plus it crashed.

Now..... Welcome to "Ragan's Rules of Life". On this segment, we will cover a very important time of decision making. This time comes when you are on a plane getting ready to skydive. If all of a sudden the pilot turns around to you and says "Everyone out of the plane now!" and the jump master is the first one out of the plane..... FOLLOW HIM!. Do not hesitate! I would be through the door before the pilot even finished his sentence. Don't wait until the plane is in a flat spin.

Biggitty biggitty BAM!!! Now I only got two links workin'. The rest will come.
Its time to get off the Crazy Train and its all aboard the Rock n Roll Pain Train. Tomorrow, tickets go on sale for Kid Rock with Fuel on April 3rd. If you are in a band, I suggest you cancel your gig that day. If you are not in a band, you better have your ass there "no excuses". One of the best big venue shows you'll see. Mr. Rock has covered all the bases from country, to rap, to rock, and now on his new cd, you get a taste of the blues. The guy is a musical phenom. If I were a musician, I'd be him.
I really wish these PETA sonsabitches would just STFU. $20,000 worth of veggie burgers to local schools? What a joke! I'm sure students and parents would be thrilled. All the kids would be packin' their own lunch. I think PETA people need to quit eating plants. I mean come on... they're killing our oxygen supply. People need to stand up for that! "Stop thinning the air with your murderous ways towards plants!" I'm a firm believer in the saying "If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat." Its called the food chain you dumbasses.

I think I finally sobered up. Somehow today, I managed to make this....

Guess what it is.
I totally hopped on my beer scooter last night and went into a time warp. The pictures below are but a window I was looking out of last night. Got to the Bricktown Dog around 7, started drinking with everybody, looked at the clock... it said 8:30..... party. Looked again.... 10:30...... right on.... its early I can still amke it to bed at a decent time. Next thing I know they're closing up and running us out. Well, I thought they were just closing early..... nope. Got in my van and its ten after two...... shit. There's nothing like staying at the bar longer than you're at work or longer than you're gonna sleep that night. I'm glad I can still do it..... I guess. It's time for the breakfast of champions now.

Got pics of the Travis Kidd show up from last Thursday and some MP3's here. I only salvaged three from that night cuz I learned if I splice two mic cords togther, I get some rancid ass noise. So these are pretty good quality... but hey, they're bootlegs. I like 'em a little rough. The Reckless Kelly show went kick ass. I'll have some pics and song samples from that show later on in the week.
I guess I should say something in acceptance of my award. Well, it looks like you people have spoken. Congratulations to me! I will work to continue to be the biggest All Genre Fan of the Year. You think I'm good now. You just wait. All you other fans better watch your back cuz I'm the best there is. Anyone who challenges me will get the biggest fan beating of their life. I train very hard every night I can, consuming numerous alcoholic beverages and listening to music for you people, the fans of the fan. 2003 was a tough year. I couldn't be as big a fan as I wanted to be.... but living in Guthrie now, I can be a fan in two different cities, Stillwater and Oklahoma City. I guess you could say I'm broadening my "fan base" (burhur). I do apologize for not making it to the awards to accept my solid gold trophy as I was attending the Grammy's for my "Fan Nomination" there... but rest assured, I was there in spirit. I did not win at the Grammy's however. I was beat out by some kid in the front row being a bigger fan than I during the Sean Paul performance (I, of course, was at my prime during Prince). But alas, I at least you all appreciate all the work I put into being an "all genre fan". Thanks to PCL for hosting the awards and to everyone who nominated me. I also want to thank my manager, Matt, who wasn't able to attend. You are the wind beneath my wings brutha!... and to Kevin who has supported me through the highs and lows..... I love you man! I'm a star... as long as I have you guys. In the immortal words of Logan a.k.a. "Wolverine".... "I'm the best there is at what I do."..... Thank you.
I now fully endorse Pepsi. Know why? Cuz they give me free music on iTunes. I've already had two this morning. I love feeling like a winner 1 out of 3 times.

Well shit, I've got pics and mp3's from last night I've been trying to post all day but it appears Surpass is working on their servers as Dreamweaver can't connect to any of my sites today. Oh well, don't forget to head to Reckless Kelly tonight and party down in Bricktown. Its gonna be crazy tonight.

Well, there was only one funny email subject line that caught my eye this week. All I saw was "Back Seat Sausage Hiding". Must be some kind of new travel game.

Looks like The Great Divide will be sneakin' into the Original Wormy Dog in Stillwater this evening for a special little acoustic set. Check 'em if you're near.
So that was a fun snow day yesterday! Tonight it looks like we'll be heading down to the Bricktown Dog to check out Travis Kidd. I know he's been around a while but I have still yet to hear him with his band. If it's anything like the little song sample from his site, it'll be a pretty kick ass show. It's also Jaosn Oliver's big 3-0 birthday today. He's one of the bartenders down at the Dog. So, everybody who's around should come out and wish him a happy b-day and support the live music and the bar and the yadda yadda yadda. Tomorrow night is the return of Reckless Kelly down there. That's ALWAYS a no fail good time. I plan on bootleggin' the shit out of all the shows at the Bricktown Dog. Of course not to be released without permission. You can always come to the bar and listen though. We'll play them "in house". Rock.

I know I'm about two months late for this movie review but Melisa and I finally saw "The Return of The King" last night. It was three and a half hours of Wizard, Warrior, and Hobbity goodness. What a great cinema epic.

Monday, February 2, 2004

Tell me Hurricane Jane doesn't know how to burn it down and I'll kick your ass. Check this yo.
By request from my lovely fiance, Melisa, I added a countdown timer until the fateful day of our wedding. God help us all. :-)
Well boys and girls, that was one helluva ride this weekend. Lots of "guest appearances" at the show this weekend at the Bricktown Dog. First off.... Friday night, let me just say that the Forty Twenty Band kicks much ass. Like their shirt says... "So country it'll make you puke." With their music, I successfully entered a drunken stooper. I was little pissed cuz I had planned on recording the show that night but right before the band went on, we lost the signal from the mic. Fuckin' piece of shit. Anyhoo, Stoney and Kevin were up next and the fiddle player?...... none other than Dana Hazzard. It was good to see him and Stoney. Looks like everybody is doing great. The crowd was crazy. Ryin, Ashly, Whitney, Jamie & Angie, Ryan & Jennifer, Robert, Jeff, and Andy were all out in full effect. Poncho, from Texas Jack even showed up. Good times, good times. Saturday morning rolls around and Melisa and I had an appointment to try on tuxes for our wedding. I gotta tell ya, I'm happy as a pig in shit with what we got. They're gonna be pimp ass.... literally (my idea of course). Check it yo....

Saturday evening.... back to the Bricktown Dog Hurricane Jane was up first. They are becoming one of the few bands that can get me to dance. Carrie's vocals are amazing and the band's stage presence is nothing short of extraordinary. Good stuff people, good stuff. Saturday night also turned out to be "Jagerfest". Jerry had made a New Years resolution not to drink Jager for a month so, at midnight all bets were off and it just so happened that night's show was sponsored by Jager. They were giving out tray after tray after tray of shots. The first set of No Justice was great. Everybody was rockin' out and partyin'. Then, of course, midnight rolls around and a tray of Jager shots ends up on stage. Everyone stepped it up a notch then. It was like an Eric Clapton song.... you know?.... "After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang out." I couldn't tell if it was exactly a "good set" per say, I just know that people were runnin' around crazier than a shithouse rat. Kevin took some killer pics so watch his site for the posting. Brandon Jackson from 12 Pearls got up and sang with Steve while Donnie Woods even sat in bass for a few tunes. Sarah from Hurricane Jane got up for "The Boys from Oklahoma" to add a little fiddle to the mix. It was a party. If you didn't come out, I'm gonna have to say you missed out. The Wormy Dog in OKC is now the official Jager Bar of Bricktown. Their goal was to get more Jager consumed than any bar down the street...... I think they succeeded.... and I've got the audio to prove it.
