So, every year Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid does this thing called Spud Week. They have a ton of sponsors and I guess its kids doing charity work. They always use Mr. Potato Head as their "mascot". So they wanted him dodging a dodgeball this year. So, this is what I came up with today. I just giggle everytime we do something with Mr. Potato Head. Just though I'd share.

Waxing Nostalgic

Seems like some other people are also flashing back to old music. Digging through all my old tapes is nuts. I even found songs I recorded off the radio and MTV (yes I even had high tech gadgets in my youth). Anyone remember "The Boz" that was written for Brian Bozworth when he was at OU? Yeah I found that. The "Super Bowl Shuffle"? Got that one too. Just cuz our class recreated the video in 5th Grade. I was Mike Singletary.
I'm Samurai Mike I stop'em cold.
Part of the defense, big and bold,
I've been jammin' for quite a while,
Doin' what's right and settin' the style,
Give me a chance, I'll rock you good,
Nobody messin' in my neighborhood.
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble,
I just came to do The Super Bowl Shuffle
Wow, I still remember the lyrics. I even found a couple of 45's. Yes I started out with records before tapes. Paul Revere single from the Beastie Boys. Word. There's still a ton of unlabeled sweet mix tapes to go through. It will be interesting to say the least. I converted a couple more tapes to the computer last night. Bruce Dickinson's "Tattooed Millionaire" and Gorky Park's self titled. What's really cool is the tape hiss you still get when the song goes all quiet. I don't want that to go away cuz it takes me back. When I was growing up, I'd just sit in front of the stereo and listen for hours to albums I had. Fuck, I love music.

Boat of Speed
People want to know what I did to pay for the college courses I took. Well, here it is. I used to be in commercials.
No Way No Way (exactly)
They took a perfectly good Muppet song and shit all over it. Who markets this shit?

Screw This
Have I told you how much I hate cold weather, snow, and ice? I can't stand being couped up on a weekend. Its just the fact of wanting to go at least to the store for a pop and a candy bar but noooooo... there's fucking ice everywhere. Besides that, this shit-ass weather canceled Reckless Kelly. Fuck! I haven't been to the Dog since the Hangover Ball and I'm about to go crazy. I need some good times and live music people! I'm being kept from my number one "hobby". All I did this weekend was record tapes to my computer. That's a time consuming process. Let's run down the ones I've done so far to give you a glimpse of Ragan's tape collection. The first case of tapes contains all my rock stuff. The first two I converted was the London Quireboys self titled, then it was Thunder's "Backstreet Symphony". Then I just went in alphabetical order:
AC/DC - The Razors Edge
Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation
Beastie Boys - License to Ill & Check Your Head
Culture Club - Colour By Numbers
Def Leppard - High 'N' Dry & Hysteria
Neil Diamond - The Jazz Singer
Pretty diverse eh? Wait until I get to the case that has all my rap stuff in it. We can throw the biggest 80's party around once all these are on my computer. So, thats all i did this weekend... that and the dishes. I came to work today to get out of the house and move around, yet I'm still staring at a computer screen. :-) Oh well, thats my life. Everybody else enjoy your day.

Finally
I've finally set up a computer to record all my old cassette tapes. Now I can digitally archive all my rare tapes like my 1990 promotional copy of The London Quireboys. Can't find that album on iTunes. Just their latest one. Next one up will be Gorky Park! Remember those guys?

Codename: Hacksaw

So I've pulled out an old $100 tower that wasn't much to begin with and I'm now creating a monster. I've pulled apart 3 different computers (2 Macs and I Windows) and put parts into a Powermac G4 Sawtooth. This started out with a 500mhz G4 processor, a dvd rom, 384mb of memory, a zip drive, and a 27gb hard drive. When I'm done, this thing will have 5 (memory yet to be determined) hard drives in it, 4 USB-1 ports, 2 USB-2 ports, a TV tuner card, another 128mb of ram, Bluetooth, wireless internet adapter, a CDRW, and possibly even some hydraulics. I'm basically building this as my work computer. Now, I love my Mac Mini, but I think its found its place in our living room as our media center. Plus I can make this "Hacksaw" project maybe even 5x as powerful as my Mini in the end. Still gonna wait until processor upgrades go down. I'm looking for below $75. :-)
That's about all I have planned for the weekend since the Dog is closed for Steamboat. Building a little trailer to pull behind my riding mower too. Thanks to the in-laws for Christmas. Now i can go get one of those big ass 15-gallon tank sprayers to put in it so I can spray my yard without fill up a two-gallon squirt gun fifty thousand times. May even do a little fence repair too. Oh and watch a ton of movies I put on my hard drive. Over and under.

My car's got new sneakers.

Got me some new Tiger Paw kicks for my little Dodge yesterday. Those damn Goodyear's were headed south pretty quick. They lasted 2 years and about 60K miles. Never been a big Goodyear fan. I grew up with Uniroyal and BF Goodrich on our vehicles. But my car is faster now and it jumps higher. Even got the front re-aligned. Its as smoove as a Caddy now. If you're around Stillwater, take your car to ol Vic Borland at Pioneer Tire. He'll hook you up. ;-)
