So, Matt and I have been tackling PHP and MySQL for the past couple of days, trying to broaden our web developer skills. It sucks. Way to much coding. Someone needs to deveop a sweet GUI for all this stuff. They did it with HTML. We're visual learners with pretty pictures. Going through lots.... and I mean lots... of trial and error trying to set up sites with this crap. Sorry for the geek speak but I thought I'd share.

For a while now I've been hoarding a band. Well, I say that but some of you may have already heard of them. Almost a year ago, we got a cd in the mail from Marlboro called Copper Label filled with what they called "the best bands you never heard of". One song really stuck out when it started off with a mean trumpet intro. I'm pretty sure its a trumpet. I might be pretty rusty on my "horn identification". It was Sci-Fi Lullaby's "Telcom". That song is bad ass I tell ya. They don't have an official website. You can only find them on Garageband.com. All their songs are pretty groova-funka-rocka-licious. They best way I can describe most of they music is Beatles meet Moby with a touch of power-chord goodness. Check 'em out, get their cd, or just download all their stuff... spread the.... word.

So the next three weeks are gonna be pretty crazy for us as we get ready to have a garage sale and move into our new house. This is the time when we feel blessed with the greatest friends in the world. We're gonna need all the help we can get, cuz starting October 29th, we'll have three days to paint all the rooms in our new house, clean the old house, and be completely moved from one to the other. There's only two shows we'll be making time for between now and then. The Stragglers this Friday and Roger Clyne on the 23rd. We may take a break and catch Texas Jack on the 30th. Depends on how much we get done that day. Rest assure the housewarming/Christmas party we're planning in the middle of December will be one to remember. Here are some pics of our new house in Guthrie. I still can't believe this will be ours!

Check out those floors! You see why we're painting now. Everything is like a buttery yellow. We aren't yellow people. Brick red and a light brown with eggshell trim is what we're going for downstairs.

Check out the back yard... its over 1/2 an acre. Perfect for entertaining. Gotta put up a privacy fence though.

At the Varsity OKC
Found a couple of old pics while cleaning my desk. Back in 96-97 I believe after an Ian Moore concert at the Brewery. Can you pic me out? I started to grow my hair out back then.

So, I had this dream the other night. I think I was like back in college or something. It must have been because I had a back pack. Anyways, I was walking down a highway and I saw this big charter bus pulled off to the side. There was a guy sitting on the ground. As I approached, I saw it was Gene Wilder dressed as Willy Wonka. I thought this is cool as shit! I love Willy Wonka! I got to get his autograph! But what should I get him to sign? Man! I've got a box of Nerds in my backpack! How cool would that be? Getting Gene Wilder's autograph on a Willy Wonka product while he's dressed as Willy Wonka! He was a real nice guy and gave me the autograph. I couldn't wait to tell everyone.... then it got fuzzy and I eventually woke up. Thats all I got. I don't know what it means other than I think what a great obscure autograph to have.

They're coming boys and girls. October 23rd. I cannot stress anymore, again, if you have not seen them, go. Its the most energy you'll ever see in a show.
I love train beats and train songs.
Scott Miller & the Commonwealth... he kicks my ass. Former lead man of the defunct V-Roys. Upside Downside is a killer cd. Amtrak Crescent and Angels Dwell are the best tunes on there. Just though I'd share.

Wow.... Farmfest rocked. I think I got the Drunk Okie Award for that show. Even poured a little Boones out for my homies. Got quite a bit of video from the acts. As soon as I add lightning, earthquakes, and smoke, I'll post up some clips. Came back Sunday fo Chad's surprise birthday party. I've never been to one. It was pretty cool with all the anticipation right before he and Beth walked in. Lot's of good backyard music and coversation that evening. Now, I gotta be prepared to be at the Dirty Dog this Wednesday cuz these people and definetly THESE people (be careful clicking on this link at work, now). Get your cameras charged up!

Who's up for a little road trip tomorrow down to Chilicot.... Chilectho..... Chillicothe, TX for a little Farmfest action. That sounded dirty. A little McClure.... a little Texas Jack.... gonna be a good time. So.... "Open the door, bring on the women. Go to the ice box, and get me a beer. Start your fire on the cooker, get your chili ready. Cause before you know it, it’s gonna be tomorrow night."

So, Whitney got me thinking about people who are afraid of flying. I guess I could never understand that since I love to be soaring through the air. I've always wanted to be a fighter pilot but the Air Force isn't too keen on blind people flying their planes. They said I could work on the planes but what fun is that if you don't get to test your handy work. I have a cousin that was a commercial airline pilot and he had his own piper cub. That plane rocked. He gave me the controls for like a minute and it was pretty exhilarating. Sure, when a plane crashes your more likely to die than in a car crash. But, your more likely just to be in a car crash anyway.

Petting zoos, pig races, bear and alligator shows, and these guys (who we ALMOST went to see last night). I'm sure it would've been cooler than that "Poor and Stupid" show at the Dog last night. Oh well, come out and be redeemed at The Dog tonight for the legendary Oklahoman Gary P. Nunn. Heading to Stillwater tomorrow for the game. Gonna watch it at Dirty Dog. They have free wireless internet and NTN Gaming now. That's a pretty cool deal. Sunday, its back to OKC for the best tribute band around.

Here's some music info for ya I brought back from Austin.
#1: Whenever I go down there, I grab a copy of the Chronicle and start tearing through it to see who's playing. I usually look for people I've seen or heard of and see who's playing with/opening for them.... you know, to check out the new kids on the block (pun very intended). One band kept popping up I've never heard of. The Greencards. I had no idea what kind kind of music they played but apparently people like them. So, on my regular trip to Waterloo I picked up their cd, threw it in, and heard some kick ass (i mean really kick ass) bluegrass music. So, i tottled on over to their website and found out Keen agrees as well. I suggest checking them out.
#2: Got a copy of the Stragglers new cd. We've been waiting for this one for some time. I gotta tell ya its worth the wait. I usually don't make comments on the bands I'm biased towards but let me tell ya.... go get this cd.... and when you play it, you will lose all control of your bowels. Yes, it is "shit your pants" good. Except for the "burhur" factor of a couple of songs :-) .... the album is flawless. Best one ever. Listen kids... I know. Every damn song is a sing-a-long. "Radio" being my favorite.
#3 Ted is a sound engineer down in Austin and the band he's working with now, Podunk, played last Saturday at Momo's. I'd first heard of them years ago when I listed to a lot of Cadillac Voodoo Choir. A couple of guys in the band used to play for the Choir so it was kinda cool to finally see them after all these years. Good clean rock 'n' roll is the best way to describe them. Tons of energy and very seasoned performers.
Damn, thats a big blog.... oh well, have fun with it.

So, over the weekend I helped dig a hole and install a new water hydrant, trample through 7 ft. sunflowers to see what it takes to tear down a windmill, and cut out old high guage fence panels to make into ivy crawlers.... yeah. I'm not one for manual labor. Mowing the grass and taking out the trash is about as labor intense as I get. But its pretty cool, cuz all the thing I know I'll do with my father-in-law is going to be something I've never done. Its like "city boy" hangs out with "farm boy". I have ideas/plans on how to do a task and he has the braun. Its like a Pet Shop Boys song. Now pardon me while I massage Ben-Gay on my legs and arms back to health.

So, I'm working on a design for the "Elementary Educators of Tomorrow" at OSU and they want elements of classroom teaching tools. I can't help but think of the big pink eraser I used to get and the smell of it. I may go buy one to keep with me and whenever I want to go back to like, 4th grade, I can just take it out of my pocket and get a big ole whiff..... then get a real bad headache..... just like old times.

Lots of thing to cover but too much stuff to do. Apple has done it again. Brandon and Underground Planet has made another killer video. Dierks Bentley is one of the coolest cats in the business and Matt Powell kicks ass..... pics of this past weekend's shows soon.
Friday, August 27, 2004
So now my phone is broke ass. All it says is please insert sim card now. I cleaned it and put it back in but to no avail. Hitting the Cingular stores at luch to see what kind of back-up phone I can get. So, if anyone has/is trying to call me, thats why I'm not answering..... broke ass phone. Matt Powell tonight regardless. That'll cheer me up.

It may not get you drunk very fast but I guarantee you there's a college kid that's going to super charge this.

No mas, no mas tequila.
Don't ever go see a show at Bricktown Events Center. No digital camera's allowed cuz I guess they say you can sell the pictures online, but film cameras are ok. Now, explain this to me, can't you just order digital prints now when you develop film? Found out it was a non smoking show after we started our $25 minimum tab with $4 beers. So we decided to find the designateted spot to all (well most of us) have a cigarette. "Hey, you can't take your beer out there!" Well, WTF??? First I can't take pics of a guy I have close to a hundred pics of already and now I can't smoke and drink at the same time??? Oh and the security guy said they are about to outlaw cell phones too..... wow. It was a very Gestapo Robert Earl Keen show. So we went and saw Bleu at the Dog to finish the night. That band is bad ass. The Swabble was one helluva party though! Thanks to everybody who showed up. That was a great time. Sunday there was a lot layin' around on the couch. Today after work though, I think we're gonna hit the grand opening of the Dirty Dog Tavern. If you're in Stillwater come out for some Happy Hour Action Fun Time Club today at 5.
Friday, August 20, 2004
I don't know what that shot was, but it was green, on fire, and from France. Tasted like peppermint schnapps moonshine..... I'm doing pretty good for only having 2 and a half hours of sleep. Great show last night. Lots of old friends. Pics are up. Ready for Round 2 tonight.

Because nothing says "I'm serious about my music career" like a tour bus. Come on man, get real. Just cuz you bought a bus doesn't mean you're a star... but whatever it takes for you to justify blowing that big of a wad of cash. And just cuz you've sang at the Wild Horse Saloon and the Blue Bird Cafe (probably once), doesn't mean you've made it. Boy that tour schedule sure is full! Man, to have a tour bus and travel all over the country! I see he's accepting demos too. I guess not much of a writer either.
Sorry, I was just told about that site and it made me giggle.
Sorry, I was just told about that site and it made me giggle.
So, Matt and I ate lunch at the Student Union today. Felt like the new kids on campus. Lots has changed across the street. We ate at Chick-fil-A Express cuz we didn't find the Taco Mayo until after we bought our food.... shit. Brought back memories of not going to class and going to Willies at noon then going to the Dog to shut 'er down. Man, those were the days. Everyone better get a good night sleep tonight cuz the festivities for the weekend begin tomorrow! Mike and Cody tomorrow night at the Dog. Then its Keen on Friday at the Bricktown Event Center. May catch Bleu if time or my liver permits. Then of course its the Swabble on Saturday for all August Birthdays (which is my birthday, wink wink nudge nudge). Yeah, gotta keep your party hat on for three days straight.... par-dee.

If you want a break from Country Music for a bit, I suggest this. Check out Cadillac Rock Box off of the We've Come For You All album. That record makes me wanna kick some ass!
Not much this past weekend. Watched Hellboy and Kill Bill 2. Both badass movies. Started building the surfboard bar for Saturday night. Got the board cleaned and clear coated. Just gotta wait on saw horses for the legs. Man, got lots of work to get done so I don't have to worry about it this weekend. Stillwater Football stuff, Watonga Football Designs, Yale Volleyball, OSU Color Guard.... word. Mike & Cody on Thursday, Keen and Bleu on Friday, the Swabble on Saturday.... word again. Even though they aren't together anymore, I still want to see Cadillac Voodoo Choir. I'd take some vacation time to travel and see those guys. Oh well, have a good Mondizzay.

Rock n fuckin' roll.... Steve Earle's new cd is gonna blow some minds. My favorite new song is "F the CC". Protest music at its finest!

So, here we go with another party celebrating birthdays, now in the month of August. The "Cabo Wabo Swabble" will be at our house on the 21st starting at 7pm. If you know our parties, this will probably last til the sun comes up. So, it doesn't matter if you go to the bar to see a band and stillwant to come.... chances are Kevin, Ryin, Jamie, and/or I will still be up givin' 'er hell. This will be a tequila themed party so bring some along if you wish. We'll mix Waborita's all night. Word.... come one, come all.
Tuesday, August 10, 2004
Wow its starting to get crazy at work. Students are moving into town and our store is getting ready for rush week. I just gotta say the show last night rocked and Thornley kicks complete ass! Word. Also, on another note, I'm selling my old Sony Ericsson T226 with ALL its accessories on eBay. If your looking for a good phone on Cingular GSM, this is the one to get. I upgraded just because I wanted a phone with a keyboard. Word. Check it out yo!

Do a search for houses and 80% of the results are trailers in Oklahoma... which is the one of the most active tornadic states in the Union. Why do people have these? In Oklahoma? They'll buy 40-some-odd acres of land and what do they do?.... throw a fucking trailer on it. Maybe if they don't like where they put it, they can just up and move to another corner of their lot.
So we looked at the only house we liked in our price range in Guthrie yesterday. The outside would kick ass with a little work and loved the full acre lot. So, we had our fingers crossed as we walked in through the door. The crossed fingers soon turned into the middle finger as we said "screw this", it needed to much work. The house has been empty for over two months and I guess the previous tenant (as we found it was a rent house) had pets so the carpet was all stinky and torn in some places. There was dry wall work that needed to be done and some major updating on various hardware.... oh and its about ready for a new roof. So, you can take your overpriced '85 house and shove it. Come talk to me when you're ready to knock about 40K off the price. Seller's market in Guthrie my ass.
Monday, August 2, 2004
Graham Colton Band.... OK, why haven't I heard of this Oklahoma City boy before? These guys rock... not too hard not too soft.... just right. Drive is one helluva CD. I found them on iTunes looking up some Cowboy Mouth and they were on the "Listeners Also Bought" list. iTunes rules.
Didn't do shit this weekend except eating some interestin. Gonna make up for this week though. Melisa's cousin, Linda, is flying in from California today to stay with us for a week. She wants to see what this music scene is all about (did I mention she plays fiddle?). Well, I do believe this is a good week for it. Gonna check out Steve and Brandon at Joe's Wednesday. Man, I haven't been to Joe's on a Wednesday acoustic night in years.... Hittin' the Dog on Thursday to get Superfreakydeaky on Ladies night. Then the "big show" all weekend long (for us anyway) the Boeckman Musicfest in Okeene. Heard there will be a pre-party Friday night with some music jammin'.
Friday, July 30, 2004
Partying on a school night is hard. Well, the partying isn't hard. It's the whole "Man, I'm-only-gonna-get-like-5-hours-of-drunk-sleep-and-wake-up-feeling-not-so-hot-and-hungry-cuz-you-didn't-eat-anything-the-night-before-so-you-need-to-drink-lots-of-water-and-take-two-Tylenol thing." Considering this is what I'm eating for breakfast.

I need to stop right there.

Well, after hours of discussion board/support reading at Apple website and trial and error software reloads, I've breathed a little bit of life back into my ipod. Restored it and got it to connect to the iMac here at work.... the problem is all my music is on my iBook and it still won't connect to it. I'm making progress and I refuse to give up.

Eddie.... Alex.... Michael.... and SAMMY! Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Live at the Oklahoma City Ford Center! This is the concert of all concerts for me. I am more excited about this show, I think, than any other I've seen. Even seeing them back in August of 93 right after High School. I'm gonna try and do an audio blog from inside but I've realized that every show I've been to in there, I can't hear anything coming from my phone. Saturday We'll definitely be in attendance for Badwater at the Bricktown Dog. Two great rock n roll bands in two days.... rock and... uh... roll.
Thursday, July 22, 2004
So I think we all drank our shitty day into a good one last night at theDog. Good times and good conversation. Today should be better... gonna grill some bleu cheese burgers tonight. word is bond.

No one can even fathom how pissed off I am. So excuse the cursing here.... shit damn fuck bitch cock ass fuckin dick suckin mutha fuckin shit bitch asshole! I'm doing considerably well as I sit here with my iPod that went tits up on me. No one knows what its like to have over a thousand songs at your finger tips only to have them stripped away by some unkown force. It won't hook up to any of my computers except the ONLY time I got it connected, it just seemed to go ahead and erase every song (including the fucking operating system) I had on there. I'm already dreading getting into my van cuz what the fuck am I gonna listen to now??? Shit! So, I went and bought Van Halen's new "Best of Both Worlds" cd. That's the only thing keeping me level headed is seeing the greatest rock n roll band of all time (in my book anyway) this Sunday, fronted by the Red Rocker himself. I just heard the opening band, Shinedown do a sweet acoustic version of Skynrd's "Simple Man". I think they're gonna kick some balls. I need to load my iPod with some of their tunes... oh wait... that's right... its BROKE ASS.
Monday, July 19, 2004
It bothers me (or its really sad) that out of the Billboard Top Ten, I've only heard of three people on there. Hoobastank, Usher, and Alicia Keys. One rock band in the Top Ten???? Come on! We need rock 'n' roll to come back really really really bad.
So, I'm finally starting to "fine tune" some things here on the site, like getting my pages to load in the iframe here (thanks Kevin... punk) and I put up a brand spanking new Guestbook that everyone needs to resign and tell me what a cool muthafucka I am... AND you can post comments on what I'm doing on my webcam. It shoudl be real ineresting if people will actually USE IT! Have a good damn day!
Wow.... it seems I need to adjust the level of the laugh tracks on my audio blogs. Steve Earle was cool and all but nothing topped the night more than seeing Mr. Brad Piccolo up and around well enough to even sing a tune. He brought nearly everyone to tears when he gave a little speech thanking everyone who has been praying and helping out. He said Ben is doing well and Coop is even up with a walker now. Kick ass.
Well, Its off to Joe's tonight to catch The Stragglers show.... and yes probably to see Steve and Brandon at the "whateveritscalled" bar.

Friday, July 16, 2004
Oh and the weekend doesn't end on Sunday cuz Monday after work, we'll all be out for The Stragglers kicking off Joe's Anniversary Week. Its a free show outside folks so there's no reason for anyone NOT to be there. You all best have a good weekend.
So it does look like we're going to see Steve Earle tonight at the Woody Guthrie Festival. Beth, Chad, Eric, and Katie are going. This looks to be Eric's last hoorah before he and Katie move to Des Moines, IA tomorrow. Those are two killer people right there. We wish them all the best. I know its not the last we'll be seeing/hearing from them for sure. But nonetheless, they'll be missed.... get ready to kick it up a notch tonight boys and girls.
Couple of other things... I think Davd Blaine has sold his soul to the devil. We watched his Street Magic show last night and was blown away. I know he does crazy big as tricks but seeing even the little ones makes me wonder. He rules, I'll give him that.... but its still freaky deaky.
Oh and this just in!!! Martha Stewart is going to jail! Hahahaha!
Oh and this just in!!! Martha Stewart is going to jail! Hahahaha!
I forgot to mention that I learned something last night. Its really hard to change the oil in you car when its dark and the engine's really reall really hot. There's a couple of spots on the driveway where I dropped the old filter. It was too hot to handle, too cold to hold, They're called Ghostbusters and they're in control..... sorry I broke into song there.... word up.
So, due to a slight mix up.... my boys from south of the border, Texas Jack, will not be appearing Saturday night at the Bricktown Dog. They are however playing the Red Dirt Cafe that night. Melisa and I are, however, still going to the Bricktown Dog as she has some old high school friends we're gonna party with. Plus its $2 long necks all night with no cover... word. Tonight I think we may be going to see Steve Earle at the Woody Guthrie Festival. We'll see if there's any other takers on going. As long as we've been in this music scene, we've never been to the Woody Festival. I sure hope there's a little beer there. I noticed the people seem more "mature" than what we're used to and that's cool. Its supposed to be about the music anyway. Rock...

So, its KRAZY DAZE in Stillwater this weekend. All the bargain hunters are in full effect starting at 7am this morning. All the retail outlets, including ours, have prepared all week for this yearly event. I remember when I first moved here and hearing about crazy days, I thought, what a cool idea for stores to blow out their stock to prepare for fall.... and I remember saying, I'll get up early and find ME some good bargains! But then I thought, I couldn't ever get up early to go to class so why would I get up early to shop.... then I went back to sleep.
Wednesday, July 14, 2004
Man, I seriously need to quick watching Overhaulin'. That shit makes me sick what they can do in seven days when it would take me a couple of years to do what they do. I want to be Chip Foose. An automobile designer AND builder. What a badass. Check out the shit he's built. If I could, I'd pour all the money I made into my van, make it one low mo fo, and buy a 74-80 'vette to do a frame off restoration.... but first I gotta get a house with a garage big enough to install a lift. That would kick ass. Other than music, my first love (as a hobby!) has always been hot rods.

A tribute to Kevin's latest blog as how I read it. Maybe we should all re-write it as how we see the world.....
"As he gets into the bar, he is excited, yet unsure what he should do. He looks around at all the liquor and remembers how they do act as a medicine for his soul and his mind. He continues to look around and get comfortable on his new bar stool. Gonna be a late night, and he's got to work tomorrow.
As he is getting used to the new stool, new drinks, some new folks to hang with, he longs to be back at his home on the couch watching a great a live show dvd, or dancing around the living room. But he still feels that in order to progress as an individual and to get to the point in his life that he wants to be at, this is something that he has to drink. He does realize that his liver isn't much healthier. His kidneys are clean all the time, his bathroom is working, he is just trying to hold his own at the bar. Yet all the time . . could he have changed himself as much as he soiled his drawers?"
Wurd

But he still feels that in order to progress as an individual and to get to the point in his life that he wants to be at, this is something that he has to drink. He does realize that his liver isn't much healthier. His kidneys are clean all the time, his bathroom is working, he is just trying to hold his own at the bar. Yet all the time . . could he have changed himself as much as he soiled his drawers?"

Vince Neil at the Bricktown Dog Friday Oct. 8th. I was working the night shift at the Kinkos right across the street from the WD Concert Hall in Stillwater when he came there oh so many years ago. I stood out front listening to all fun going on inside. Now is my chance to make up for the fun missed.
No, I didn't forget about Macon Greyson Friday night cuz I think they deserve a little blog of praise their own here. Now, I've only seen them probably four times but nothing kicked more ass than their show opening for Warrant. I even saw a couple of mullets rockin' out to them..... word. Those guys kick balls. Check out their shows. You won't be disappointed. Just check out the pics I posted from Friday night.
Wow... what a great weekend. Let see if I can remember it all. Let's see, Friday, aahhh yes, Warrant at the Bricktown Dog. That was quite a show. The band was tight as shit as they should be for playing with each other for over 20 years now. Their new lead sing though, he tried a little too hard at the whole rock n roll stage show. I get how you're trying to keep the "arena" aspect of it all but those days are over man. We all had a great time regardless smiling at the crowds reaction. One thing I did learn that night is don't leave your wife in the van for over an hour on her birthday when you said "It'll be like 10 minutes, them we'll go". The beer scooter was in full effect. Had to get a jump from Ryin with Kevin's cablessince Melisa turned on the radio and was unaware the lights came on as well. Good times.... good times.
Saturday I spent a good four hours on our yard preparing it for the big birthday party that evening. All had a great time bullshittin' and listening to some tunes. Whitney even showed up with Ashly. She's usually a funhater and doesn't like to hang out with us (I kid! I kid!). Everyone held their own pretty well. There were many a empty bottle of liquor and beer cans laying around in the yard and the dining room table when all was said and done. Head count was over 20 as the night passed. 7 of which have websites I have linked up on the right. Visit them and I'm sure you'll see a mention of the party.
Sunday was a lazy "day" as I sat in front of the TV and played Metroid Prime for a good few hours. Then headed down to Eric and Katie Schiltz's place in OKC for a gathering they had there. Melisa didn't get to make it as she was feeling pretty poopy after two very late nights. That was a pretty damn good party too as you can tell from the previous two audioblogs. Had to force myself to leave cuz I could've easily turned that one into an all nighter. I love sitting and drinking and talking in backyards. I miss being outside since all I do is work in a dark room for nine hours a day.
A great time with lots and lots friends this weekend. One of the best I've had in a while. Pics from Friday's show will be up soon. There are some crazy ones.

So we get to come back from the nice holiday weekend with some sad news. Doug Moreland's dog, Holly, passed away on July 4th during Willie's Picnic in Ft Worth. She was one helluva dog and a great performer. Always entertaining people. Our hearts and prayers go out to Doug and his new wife, as we all know Holly was part of thier family. On another note...
