Hangin' in Springdale

So, we've had our first day in Arkansas. Red and Carrie opened their home to us for a few days. Had Jesse's second birthday party in Owasso yesterday morning. Pam and AJ came up. The girls had a blast. Averly has been having a ball so far. She's such a well traveled kid. Going swimming tonight. Got Averly a blow up plane she can sit in. Should be fun. We're staying here until Tuesday morning. Then heading to Bentonville for a night at Melisa's cousin's. We'll be in Eureka Spings Wednesday afternoon. Really excited to relax there. See ya on down the road...

4th of July Weekend

What a great one. Got spend some good time with family. Friday evening was spent at my Dad's in Edmond. He and Miram cooked us dinner. Grilled some steaks. Averly had a blast in their neighbor's backyard. The neighbor's have a few older grandkids with a lot of playground stuff. Averly loved the swing and slide. Saturday and Sunday we spent out at Melisa's folks in Jones. Rob, Tara, Tatum and Jesse came down from Owasso for the weekend. Always good to see them. The storms only put a damper on the fireworks show for an hour of two. Luckily it was around dinner time. We got all the meat cooked before it hit. Learned how to grill corn on the cob too. Man it was delicious. When we started the fireworks, we saw Averly wasn't a big fan; even of the ones that didn't make noise. It was close to her bedtime anyway. We put her down to bed and Tatum and Jesse stayed up and watched Rob and I try not to blow ourselves up. We were both saying how we haven't set off our own fireworks probably since we were kids. So we kind of turned back the clock on our age for a time as well... except we didn't go to bed when we should have.

Now, we're gearing up for our family road trip to NW Arkansas! We hit the highway Friday after work!

Happy 4th & Trip Planning

So, we're taking off on a little road trip in a week. Heading to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. But not before we stop and visit Uncle Red and Aunt Carrie in Springdale. Should be a hoot. Averly's first big road trip since we drug her to Austin when she was three months old. GOing to spend a couple of nights in Bentonville at Melisa's cousin's palatial pad. Then move on north to Eureka Springs. I haven't visited there since I was a kid. I remember driving through the mountains, sitting in the backseat. All the twists and turns... ended up car sick. Party. I should be over it by now I hope. Spending the 4th out at the inlaws in Jones. Rob & Tara are bring the girls down from Tulsa. That's always a good time. Making grape ice cream too. Old family recipe. My Grandma & Grandpa used to make it every 4th of July. I'm gonna try and carry on the tradition. Now.... where are those fireworks....
