Alright people... its back! All in a new and improved movie picture show with sound and color! Everyone enjoy! WREIF!
"The Tale of Two Jacks" will be shown tonight at the Bricktown Wormy Dog. Texas Jack and Jack Ingram boys and girls..... this will be a par-tee. One of two this weekend. You better come with your balls prepared to rock.

Thursday, April 29, 2004

I really wish people didn't have sinuses. It just another thing to go wrong..... this is bullshit. I need drugs.... and another bottle of Makers.
If you come up and ask me to play Outkast, P Diddy, or Ja Rule one more time, I'm punching you in the face. You are in your late 30's and WHITE. You will listen to The Crue and you WILL LIKE IT. The only rap you'll get from me is Run DMC, NWA, or 2 Live Crew. Take that back to your "buddies". Now... EVERYBODY DANCE!
Tonight I miss my friends down in Nowhere Texas.

I guess it really sucks that I don't know shit about sports (except golf & tennis). Eric told me to add some new info to the Wormy Dog newpaper ad running this week. He said to metion something like we are home of the 7th inning stretch during the bedlam games. Well, at least I knew it had something to do with baseball cuz it had the word "inning" in it but I had no clue on what to say cuz I have no clue what it means. I guess its like a really long game or something so that in turn going along with a bar means drink more beer at the Dog... I don't know. I know what the "19th Hole" is and I suppose the "7th Inning Stretch" is the same thing. I am NOT a "sports guy".

Finally. Someone is giving out well deserved awards. Check out SomethingAwful's "Your Band Sucks" section. These guys crack me up everytime.
Fuck Hibdon Tires In Their Proverbial Ass: Part 2

Yes, yes, remember when I got a quote a while back from them and they said I needed a $400 brake job with new rotors? If you don't remember, I can't help you. But I did take my van in to get new brakes yesterday. The noise was getting quite embarrassing as people would look around in horror and dogs would bark uncontrollably as I pulled up to stop lights and signs. I took it to Pioneer Tire here in Stillwater. I've been there a few times as Vic Borland always treats me right. I will now go to no other place to have my car worked on. He pulled my van in, took a peek, and all he said I needed were brake pads. I didn't need my rotors replaced much less turned. 70 bucks. He saved me $330. So fuck Hibdon Tires once again. And since they are corporate, then they are "the man". So, fuck "the man" too.

We tried... well Jamie and I tried our damnedest to turn Friday night into Meridian. Since it was going on at the same time and we had a couple of alumni playing, we thought waht the hell, let's drink to Meridian. We soon found out you cannot put four solid days worth of partying in one night. It was not physically possible. I was all ready to go party all night long over at Robert's and listen to some Zakk Wylde. Jamie was in. Jeff was in.... I was about ready to go until Stoney and Coop wanted to talk upstairs. After I came downstairs, I was ready to go, home. It was one helluva show Friday night. Good to see Jeremy play again.... it amazes me how Stoney can almost put people in a trance when he plays. An all evening jamfest it turned out to be. Pure old school red dirt. I loved it. Now, the biggest weekend of big shows in recent times is coming up. Texas Jack, Jack, Texas Jack again, No Justice, Stragglers, and LeDoux. Dare I say the "M" word again? Cuz this is about as close as we'll get this year. Here's to the stickiest of the icky.... blueberry.

Friday, April 23, 2004

So I was looking at my web stats for my site here and the top search keyphase is "Who's got the Hooch?".... well apparently I do.
Here's you a little preview of the new Stargglers shirt design. It will be available starting next Friday at the Billy Bob's show. Grab 'em while they're hot! hot! hot! If you wanna be cool, jump in the pool.

Man... I haven't been out to the Bricktown Dog in over a week. Took last weekend off but I think we'll hit it with both barrels blazing tonight. Stoney and the Rangers are playing. Can't get much more red dirt than that. Matt's down at State Convention for the Elks in OKC. See if we can't get him out down there for a bit. I mean there will be an abundance of cold beer.... and Tuaca for me. Let's all ham it up tonight, shall we?

Its gonna be shitty weather all day today and I want it to be sunny. So lets say the song of the day is 1100 Springs "Springtime in Texas". Yeah thats a good one..... rock.

Wow... that was a great little experiment in audio blogging. I love beer debates. Through the veritable shit that was passed between Matt and Red, I'd usually just interject a nugget of information from time to time. Mostly in the form of a burp or the occasional fart... but hey, that's my opinion. Like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison is overrated. Freaky deaky for freaky deaky's sake. We all got schnockered to say the least last night. Good times.

Go check out the Shurman boys and their new website. They got a couple of killer mp3s to download too. I saw them about two years ago opening for Roger Clyne and I've been itchin' to see them again. Maybe come to Bricktown? Check out who their fans are and who they've toured with.... pretty nice resume.
Right now we should be gathering up our camping equipment, loading 10 some-odd 30 packs of beer, about a carton of cigarettes, and a little bit of food.... but this year it is not to be. For the past six years I've been going to Larry Joe Taylor's Chili Cook-Off and Music Fest (now Music Fest and Chili Cook-0ff or "Meridian" as we like to call it). Since our wedding is right around the corner, we decided to save up for that. It kills me too. We've had some of the greatest memories going to this deal. It's where we all met Crazy Ray and he so graciously took us under his wing and showed us what its all about. 1999, our first year was the incarnation of "Lackluster Mooseknuckle" which Jason appropriately named.... a time before Texas even knew who the Stragglers were. Jason, Roger, and Red played at Ray's campsite while Ted and I were basically backup singers/dancers/roadies/PR people and won Ray "Best Showmanship". He gave the award to the Yellow House. Memories like that don't come around like that very often. I talked with Monty yesterday and he said Crazy Ray wasn't going this year either. His first time to miss since the Festival started I believe. Gonna miss Todd Snider this year too. Well, we'll be all back to normal by next year for the reunion.

You see this band here? They're coming July 25 to the Ford Center in OKC.

You see the guy thats the lead singer? We're going to his bar in Cabo on our honeymoon.

Go ahead and tell me how cool I am.
I put the wedding plans as they are now at the bottom of my home page. Its going to be a busy month with me and Melisa trying to work this wedding into our beer drinking schedule. Going to the Stillwater Elks tomorrow with Matt, Red, and Carrie to eat and plan out our couple shower. Its good they have a bar there.

Oh and the photoblog above is because my new phone can only send pics via MMS and so far buzznet is the only service I've found that posts them.... rock.

Monday, April 19, 2004

I know this is wishful thinking but I figure I'd throw it out there..... Jack Ingram is playing April 30 at the Bricktown Wormy Dog.... I noticed Todd Snider is playing at Rose State College opening for John Prine.... Jack and Todd are good friends..... Maybe Todd wants to come say hi to his buddy Jack during the show and hang out.... We've had the honor of seeing those two sing together only one time in Kerrville, TX and it was quite amazing. I'd just like for it to happen again. They always reminded me of another "Cody and Jason".

With our wedding fast approaching, we fianlly decided to finish our invites. We put my little printer through hell but everything turned out great. Sending them out today. Also finalized our honeymoon plans. Going to be booking a flight to The Golden Corridor, Los Cabos, for 5 days. Rock and party roll! Of course, we will be htittng Cabo Wabo for a night. I'll post the whole wedding itenerary this week from bachelor party plans to when we fly back for people who want to know what the hell's going on (like Kevin who tends to forget). Have a good 'un.

So, Kevin said my blogs suck as of recently cuz they're only like one sentence posts. Well guess what? I don't have anything to say. I'm not gonna write some long deep blog that people can "think" about. I'm lazy and deep thinking makes me tired so I don't do it unless its after 2AM and I'm half lit from drinking whiskey all night. I'm a simple guy. I don't plan ahead more than a week or so and thats usually determining where I'm going to drink beer or what band I'm going to see. I live my life paycheck to paycheck cuz I suck at saving money cuz I buy stupid shit like a new cell phone every three months and if I drink at a bar (other than the Bricktown Dog) my tab is usually never less than $40. I look forward to drinking and hanging with friends and going to see bands probably more than anything. I guess thats my hobby. Oklahoma really needs to get a lottery so I can win it and be drunk all the time. Life's to short to make a difference in the world..... wow.... there Kevin..... you gave me something to say. haha.
Dolly Madison vs. Hostess?..... discuss.

Song of the day: "Louder Than Hell" - Motley Crue

(there Kevin, there's your "sustenance".)

So we've got our iMacs..... now the process of installing all of our software with all of our fonts and syncing everything up to our old work iMacs..... this is going to take a while
Dear Mr. President,

All it takes is one plane and one bomb to silence them. Pull our boys out and send that plane. I'm tired of those assholes gettin' our people and now other country's people. Fuck 'em.... they had their chance.

Thank you,

Ragan
Oh boy... here we go... looks like a few of us may be in trouble. I just thought I get brain damage WHILE I drink. "Heavy drinking damages your brain"... well no shit? Huh. I thought I am completely fine after six or seven Wild Turkey and Cokes.

Wednesday, April 14, 2004

There's something to be said about the anticipation of waiting for two brand new 17 inch iMacs arriving tomorrow. What that something is.... I don't know.
Overheard in the office.... "Man, I've never had a 17 inch anything."
Check this shit out yo! I can surf html from my phone now.... Party! (just being a geek today)
Overheard in office..... "If it doesn't fit, fold it like a taco."

NEVER SIT AT A POKER TABLE WITH YOUR BACK TO THE DOOR.

I noticed I failed to mention the reason I had a shitty Sunday night of TV. I look forward to that night because of King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Sopranos, and most recently Deadwood. I loved this Deadwood show. It takes place in an "illegal" settlement with no law around the Black Hills of the Dakotas where people are mining for gold. What really got my attention and became my favorite character was a gunman that hasn't been portrayed very often, Wild Bill Hickok played by Keith Carradine. This guy could drink, play poker, and out draw anyone with a pistol. He could read peoples emotions as soon as they walked into a saloon and assess whether they intended him harm or not.... until he sat with back to the door. Shit! Shot in the back by "Lazy Crazy Eye" Jack McCall. This guy is a complete douche bag. Hickok always beat him at poker and Jack would run his mouth since he couldn't beat Hickok in a gunfight. After Bill would clean him out, he'd give Jack a buck to get something to eat. I thought that was funny. I guess Jack didn't. So he got a gun and killed my favorite character. What a dick. Well, he got caught and the next episode, it looks like the law in comin' to town. I'll watch it to see if he gets justice but the writers better beef up some more of the characters to keep me goin'. They're cool... but not as cool as Wild Bill.

Friday night, Melisa and I venture down to Norman to catch Texas Jack. We were about the only two people there til about 11. The crowd picked up after that and low and behold, it ended up being an all out 80's jam fest for like an hour. It was a killer show. I know they are supposed to be a country band as Mark stated over the mic, but not that night. It was Bon Jovi, Guns 'n' Roses and The Outfield Friday night. Weekend after next, they'll be opening for Jack Ingram in OKC on Friday and kickin' off the Calf Fry in Stillwater that Saturday. We'll be in attendance for both those festivities. Saturday started off with us cleaning the house before mom, grandpa, and my uncle showed up for lunch. Hung with the fam for a bit and Matt showed up at our house to head for round 2 of the weekend's beer consumption. Got to Bricktown, went to the Dog for a quick pitcher and meet up with Melisa, Red, Carrie, Shona, Ashly, and Dani, headed to the Varsity for a bite and more beer. Got back to the Dog only to find they blew a line in the tap system or something so no draft beer. I think they got it fixed later, but the bottles were suiting me just fine. Eli and Young kicked off the show and by 10:30 the show was sold out... party. The boys take stage later and the floor was packed. The Stragglers very first fiddle player, Jason Breed, was in attendance. We haven't seen him probably since the last time he played with them so many years ago. This guy used to climb all over the stage and up on speakers to play and get the crowd riled up. Now he's pre-med, married, and has a kid on the way..... rock n roll man. Not a bad back up plan. Goodtime throughout the weekend. One of the best I've had in a while. And as for the guy who thought I was some kind of owner of the bar and was bitching about 1. the wait in line outside 2. the crappy wine that was served and 3. said that he got "stiffed" out of some money.... All I can say is 1. Get there earlier 2. Look at what bar you're in and 3. You are full of shit all the way around brother. Tough shit.

Since its been almost a month since I've posted pics, I put a couple of new albums up. From the Red Dirt Rangers on March 20 and The Stragglers this weekend... rock on people.
Got a shitload to do this morning. Some good stories over the weekend though and a very disappointing night of TV last night. I may not watch this show again. More later... back to "work" for now.

Friday, April 9, 2004

So, I finally got my new phone yesterday and I tired to set up the internet access through Cingular today. I found out they aren't very helpful if you didn't get the phone from them or if the phone is from another serivice provider..... cocksuckers. I love their service and coverage but they lack in the "support" department. They wouldn't walk me through shit. I did however find the coolest cell phone site ever. If you need to know anything and I mean anything, about your cell phone and what you can do with it, go to Howard Forums. The people and info there kick ass.

Texas Jack tonight boys and girls! WOOO0000oooo.... all aboard the Miller Light Pain Train! I'll be the conductor of this symphony of destruction!!!

Thursday, April 8, 2004

I know this is a last minute post, but if anyone is around OKC, Brandon Jackson from 12 Pearls is playing acoustic tonight at the Bricktown Dog. He puts on one helluva show. Rock n roll... tootsie roll...
Since its Easter weekend I'll share this as well..... I have found it (well not just me).... what could possibly be THE best website ever. Its like the Bible for the Bargoer. Modern Drunkard Magazine. From bar ethics to bar photography, this site is a shrine. I love it! Did I say Lyle Lovett?
Wow... this whole weekend looks like its gonna be a party. For Good Friday, I'll be in attendance for Texas Jack at the Red Dirt Cafe. That will be a good precursor to Great Saturday's service of the legendary Reverend Jason Boland and The Congregation at the worship hall of the Wormy Dog in Bricktown. As for Easter, I'm sure I will rise from the dead as Melisa and I drive to Wakita to see her family and have some Sunday dinner. Can I get a witness?

Wednesday, April 7, 2004

Prince absolutely kicked all kinds of ass..... mostly women's by the look of the crowd. What a killer performer. Some of the best guitar playing I've seen. His encore was him sitting center stage on a stool with an acoustic. He started into one of the best songs he did that night, "Little Red Corvette". I want a copy of an acoustic show of his. His band was amazing. Some of the top musicians in the industry I'm sure. Lots of horns, slappin' bass, and one of the most animated drummers ever. That show was also proof that although pyrotechnics are cool, all you really need is a good light show. Wow, one of the best concerts I've seen. Prince is the King of Pop for me... rock n roll.

Tuesday, April 6, 2004

Kurt Cobain=Overrated..... jeez people.... seriously..... come on..... I mean..... fuck. He's overrated ok? Maybe its because I hate and have always hated Nirvarna..... sorry.
Big concert number two tonight. We're going to see Prince. He better be singing all his old shit. I'll be really pissed cuz we spent some money on these tickets. I at least want "Let's Go Crazy". Oh yeah, I saw Guy Clark doing a Taco Cabana commercial this morning..... huh.

Monday, April 5, 2004

This blog will be written as I remember stuff from Saturday night. These facts may or may not be in any order. I survived.... barely. I just want to apologize to everyone I talked to at the Bricktown Dog after the Kid Rock show. I don't remember much other than liquor was flowing freely. I blame Jamie. He bought me way too many shots, I think anyway. Melisa barely survived too. After taking a spill at the Ford Center on beer soaked stairs. I ran through a fountain. There was chain smoking before the Kid Rock show. We completely missed the opening band, Fuel, because we thought it more important to try and get as shitfaced before the concert than to pay $6 for their tall boy beers (they were still good though). I blame OSU's loss on me. I jinxed it by hyping them up. Most of the OU fans we ran into are still cocksuckers. I remember seeing Wade Bowen play and asking Jerry if No Justice had been up yet. I was excited they hadn't cuz I wanted to see their show, but I don't remember them playing at all..... wow. Melisa sat in the car for a while and called me cuz she was ready to go. Apparently I was too, cuz after I sat down in the car, it was like a switch was flipped. I wanted to be home soooooo bad. We stopped at Taco Bell for some Mexican eatin'. There was no way I was going to eat anything though. I left a "bag of surprise" at the drive thru. I remember on that 40 minute drive home, me hanging my head out the window trying with all my mind power, to teleport the car to our driveway. My motorskills had completely left me by the time we got home. I haven't partied like that in over a year I think.... yeah.... and guess what. We're going to see Prince tomorrow night, Bike Night on Wednesday and The Stragglers on Saturday. Kick balls. Oh yeah, I forgot about Friday night. Jack Stowage and Forty Twenty was a great time. I got some good recording from them.

Friday, April 2, 2004

The purveyors of fine music, Forty Twenty Band are playing tonight. If you are in and around OKC, I highly suggest you see this band. So country, it'll make you puke. You know, I may do that tonight.

So, I'm still waiting for my new phone toy to come in I ordered last week. I was getting a little worried the sumbitch I bought it from off ebay ripped me off. Come to find out, when he shipped it last week, he failed to turn the phone into the "off" position. Well, the battery was going dead and it started beeping. Appparently the postal workers got worried and called the cops cuz they think it might be a bomb. Yadda yadda yadda it gets sent back to this guy and he turns it off and ships it again. Moral of the story? You can never have too much/many ice, bacon, or butt plugs..... well you actually can have too many butt plugs by law in Texas anyway.

Don't believe me? Look again and agree in the comments.
Overheard in the office... "Now when you say grimace, do you mean the big purple guy from McDonalds?"
Overheard in the office.... "This is me not taking a shit."
